Participant Rules

  • Please enter your personal data truthfully and accurately. For details of our data processing, see our privacy policy.
  • Registering for the Vienna CogSciHub:SPP does not commit you to taking part in any experiments. You will receive emails inviting you to sign up to participate in experimental sessions. Only people who have signed up for a session may participate in that session.
  • Please arrive on time to all experimental sessions that you sign up for. If you arrive late and the session has already started, do not attempt to enter the laboratory or knock on the door. Doing so will disrupt the session.
  • Participants who repeatedly fail to show up for experiments or arrive late may be removed from the database and disqualified from future participation.
  • Please bring a form of identity proof (your u:card, driving license, passport or other recognized ID) to all sessions.
  • When in the laboratory, obey the instructions of the experimenters at all times. Failure to do so may lead to you being asked to leave the laboratory and disqualified from future participation.
  • Participants may only maintain one identity on the SPP. Participants who deliberately maintain multiple identities will be removed from the database and disqualified from future participation.

    • Subject of study
    • Gender
    • Language skills
    • Optional: physical characteristics of relevance to some experiments

    • Purposes of archiving, statistics, and research

    If the provision of the personal data for this data processing is provided for by law, contractually required or necessary for a conclusion of the contract, the non-provision of the data can lead to the fact that the obligations to be fulfilled by the University of Vienna cannot be met.

    The data will be transmitted to a third country (EU or EEA country) or to an international organization:

    Third parties may have access to your personal data when participating in certain experiments. You will be explicitly informed before each of these cases which third parties will have access to your personal data in the context of an experiment.

    The duration of the data storage is until the end of the processing purpose.

    As the person affected by data processing you have the right to for following from the University of Vienna

    • Information,
    • Correction,
    • Deletion,
    • Limitation,
    • Data transfer, and
    • Termination of further processing if the legal base of the processing is an overwhelming legitimate interest of the client or the data is processed for scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes.

    You furthermore have the option of revoking your consent to data processing at any time without stating reasons. Finally, you have the opportunity to complain about what you consider inadmissible data processing at the Austrian Data Protection Authority (www.dsb.gv.at).
